Alpha 17 | Star Glows & the Likelihood of Life
Alpha 17 introduces better looking star glows, a new Halley’s Comet simulation, and two values which show how similar a planet is to Earth and the speculative chance of it forming basic life. There’s also a “Make Pulsar” tool, better crash handling and reporting, and some bug fixes.

Nice, but when can we expect better binary system handling, such that we can more accurately place things a certain location relative to a barycenter, etc?

We have made some progress recently on supporting user-created barycenters. Hopefully this feature will be ready for an update soon.

We’ve made good progress so far, and already have a very rough implementation that we are working with. With that said, it is very difficult to give an estimate because there is still a lot to do, and there are likely some obstacles which we don’t know about yet. Sorry we can’t give a timeframe yet, but it is a high priority for us and we are working hard on it.
