How to make rings stay around my teapot?
« on: May 18, 2011, 02:25:43 PM »
Put a teapot in orbit around Sirius, wanted to give it multicoloured rings ( ;D) but they just kept dissappearing outwards. Ive tried to give the teapot a mass of the earth but it still doesn't work :/

Sounds like you're running the simulation with the time step turned up too high/fast.

Turn the time step way, way down. Add the rings, then slowly turn it back up.

At a slow enough time step you can add rings around a teapot without any changes to its mass (as long as it has mass).
