Ideas to highlight the sun's heat

I'm working with some children in an semi-educational setting and they are doing a project on heat, with particular attention to the sun. I think using this would really highlight how integral it is to the earth's system and liveability.

I'm looking for any suggestions for things I could change and play around with to see this. Things that you've played with that has changed the heat of either the earth or sun.

I'm fairly new to the game so any suggestion would be appreciated.

Well...maybe you could look at how temperature variations on the sun caused temperature variations on earth? maybe you could make the sun twice a s cool, or twice as hot?
