Impacts

I'm sure this has probably been asked or noted elsewhere already, and I don't really pay much attention to this board of the forum anymore, but -

It seems to me that impacts marks cool and disappear really quickly. I'm not entirely sure how realistic it is to impact a large rocky body with several large moons and have their marks only visible for a few months to a year at most. Is there any reason for this?

Quontex sent me a message yesterday (he couldn't post it at that time) that sounds similar:

I found a bug with the climate of earth, After an impact all greenhouse is gone and earth cools off very fast. Most likly already known but i'm just putting it foward and relaying it.
