Planet Finders
« on: November 27, 2009, 10:38:26 AM »
Things planets need for life to survive:
Air life can breathe in
Just right temperature
Circular Orbit
Jupiter in a circular orbit 3 AU away
Producers
In the habitable zone
Water

But is that life's only choice? What if life on another planet needed liquid nitrogen to drink or nitrogen dioxide to breathe in? What if life could survive in 6000 degrees farenheit?

No. It's 3 AU or further.

Use this template and tell me the settings for your planet, and post them in here.

Name?
Air?
Temperature?
Orbit?
Jupiter's Orbit?
Jupiter's Distance in AUs?
Producers?
Something Life Needs to Drink?

Nothing.

It's just a fun thing.

Air to breathe in isn't needed. Look at fish for example.
Just the right temperature, in the habitable zone and circular orbit is much the same.
Jupiter isn't needed, but a heavy gravity source with some distance to the planet would be useful. It doesn't have to be at that distance, and doesn't have to be there at all though... I think.

Remember, if life evolves, it will adapt to it's environment, like our own did. Life can also be very simple. Here is a video of how the first life on Earth evolved.

Oh, and you said 6.000 Fahrenheit... That's about 3.500 Kelvin. Most materials are gasses at that temperature - since gas is matter where the molecules are not bound to each other, life cannot be gas (it would easily dissolve and would be unable to keep a structure).
