Help - light from stars doesn't go very far
« on: November 17, 2013, 03:25:49 PM »
Hello,
I created a planetary system in Universe Sandbox centered around a star with 8x the mass of the sun, and I have set the "emit light" bar to maximum.
Setting the bar to maximum makes everything really bright, but that brightness abruptly cuts off at a certain distance. I have just placed a gas giant and would like to place another one a bit farther out, but I find that it is completely dark, even though the star is much larger than the sun and the first gas giant (on the edge of the light range) is extremely well lit.

What can I do to change this, and make it so light is cast farther out from the star?

If you move pluto out twice as far as its current orbit it will go dark as well.

This is a limitation of the lighting system that's currently in place and I don't think there's a workaround.

And the brightness slider doesn't have any effect on the distance the light 'travels'.

Sorry that this happens, as all of our resources are focused on the new version, I doubt this will ever get fixed.
