What SpyC said is true, there is currently no option to import textures/heightmaps.

I have an idea, but I haven't tried it so I'm not sure if it will work. Go into the files, choose the planet you want to retexture, find the texture for that planet, remove it and put your own texture in, making sure to rename it so that it is the same as the original texture. Take the original texture out, and maybe it will work. (don't try if you don't know if you're doing or else you might end up with rainbow pixel planets)

That wouldn't work unless you were better at coding than even GA.

Yes I am a modder and I know how this woudl be doable if the main files could be somehow edited, something I have not tried anyway ...

But my point is that this is a MUST BE feature ... it coudl help a lot of RPGs or other fictional universe to load up their own maps and test the habitable conditions in order to get serious data about their fantasy worlds ... It coudl even show a game of thrones planet , a Middle earth planet and so on ... could be pretty cool and usefull for those ....

and apart that even just for making your own fantasysystem for fun in a realistic and scientific way ...

It is a planned feature, according to Chris (Or was it Georg?).

Where is it written? And eventually when can we expect that feature ? I think its really important , even just loading aheightmap a texture and a normal map woudl be great .

The feature is on the radar. Once we are happy with all the procedural surface data and the resulting object appearance we'll put in manually assigned textures.
