add existing purchase to steam library

I purchased US2 premium quite some time ago (09/2011) and I would like to migrate it to my steam library now. I tried to find some information in the FAQ... but it is only talking about Humble Bundle and a steam code.

Back then I only received a premium product key but no Steam key. The premium product key does not work as a Steam key. So... what to do now?

To activate Universe Sandbox 2:
1 – Start Universe Sandbox.
2 – Click on the ‘Options’ link from the main menu.
3 – Click on the ‘Enter your product key’ button.
4 – Enter your name, email, and the product key.
5 – Click the ‘Activate’ button.
