I kind of like small buildings in Minecraft, if you make them irl sizes the small render distance will make it all seem very strange, because usually you won't be able to see more than a few buildings within view, from what I've seen in some real city replicas and when I visited the model of Denmark server. And because all the coasts and such in MC are so tiny compared to irl, where you can easily have plains and forests continuing for many kilometers.
I also made 2m wide roads with buildings right next to them when I started playing Minecraft, but because they seem so crowded I began to add a block of terrain on either side of the road when I build cities. That makes it seem a bit more open so that's an option. Most buildings in reality have even more space between them.
