Huge Disappointment
« on: April 22, 2014, 04:14:39 PM »

I have to say, although many people think Universe Sandbox 2 is amazing, I'm glad I stuck with the first one. It's pretty sad once you think about it.
The only thing improved was the textures, which I admit look pretty awesome.
On the other hand, the explosions are overdone and basically light up the universe if one pebble hits Jupiter. Also everything looks very hard to find, unlike the first one where everything was convenient and easy to use.
I understand this is an alpha right now, but I would really appreciate it if these were fixed.

I would like some opinions on this.

I think thats actually rather accurate since any meteor hitting a planet of any size, especially big enough to be rendered in US2 usually has catastrophic results.

Also everything looks very hard to find, unlike the first one where everything was convenient and easy to use.

Nah its actually really easy. While im sure that some things could be improved, if the menu was the same was at release as it is now id be fine. Ive never had any problems finding anything I wanted in it anyways.

You know, a pebble can do some damage when falling from space.

Also, from what I've seen of the Alpha, the menu is pretty-well organized. Just get used to it.

You should really wait until US2 is actually complete to compare the two versions of Universe Sandbox.

Just comparing the alpha and the old one is enough for me to fall out the window.

Basically my point... I'll probably implode into a plank length universe full of flying cowbells when it is actually finished.

Learn to quote, please.

Also a pebble can be meters across in terms of space rocks.

Or, by the time it hits the ground it's a pebble.

There would be hundreds, if not thousands of pebbles than. The rest wound't just vanish out of existence.

You said it would disappear into thin air except the last pebble. That's blasphemy in the name of science.

Do you think I mean a pebble, like, a centimeter across?

About once a year, an automobile-sized asteroid hits Earth's atmosphere, creates an impressive fireball, and burns up before reaching the surface.

Space rocks smaller than about 25 meters will most likely burn up as they enter the Earth's atmosphere and cause little or no damage.

If a rocky meteoroid larger than 25 meters but smaller than one kilometer ( a little more than 1/2 mile) were to hit Earth, it would likely cause local damage to the impact area.
