We’re about halfway through 2016, and that means it’s time for an update on the Universe Sandbox ² roadmap we shared at the beginning of the year.

Check out the updated roadmap on our blog:
Updated 2016 Roadmap.

With some new team members and a to-do list of awesome features and improvements, we’re very excited for what’s in store for the rest of 2016.

Just wanted to say that the work y'all have been putting into this game is completely awesome. I'm really into astrophysics so US2 is definitely one of my favorite games. The upcoming features seem like they're going to be awesome. Can't wait until they're out! :D

Also, quick question while I'm on it. When total body fragmentation is added in Alpha 20, does that mean objects destroyed by tidal forces will actually turn into ring systems? Thanks!

Looks like ill have to start wracking in more screenshots again. Anyhow this roadmap is a testimate to how far this simulator has come.

The mobile US also shows how far mobile tech has come...two years ago there wasn't a mobile device whatsoever that could handle (laptops did and in a lot of cases still do have a hard time dealing with) a simulator like this. Even the idea of working on making a mobile version of this just goes to show that mobile devices aren't as trashy as some people tend to think...

My Nexus 7 came out in 2013, so it is 3 years old. I am getting an 11 on the Performance Test. For comparison I have a low end 2 year old Asus laptop, Celeron N2830 2.16GHz, 4 GB RAM, Intel HD Graphics, that I get a 16 on the Performance Test.

That's not very likely at this rate.  :-\

While it doesn't seem like things are progressing very fast, there is a lot going on behind the scenes.  Adding VR took a lot of time. The user interface is being rewritten. Adding new things always introduces bugs which adds time to the update. I think that they getting close to releasing Alpha 19. Hopefully Alpha 20 won't be too long after that. That's why I hope that Alpha 21 will be this year.
