Dynamic Stars?

I did a search and did not see anything on this, but I am wondering if there is a way to define a dynamic star? In particular I would like to simulate the sun slowly expanding into a red giant.

Turning the sun into a red giant is interesting, but I would really like to see what happens to the solar system over time as the sun expands and loses mass.

Currently, this isn't possible, I think Dan might be planning on it in the future. Plus the timestep required would probably throw off the planets if you wanted it in a realistic timeframe, not years.
