pretty useless. it doesn't fix the problem of a multiplayer world becoming more like singleplayer. even now, when you can get from desertopia to aeridani in under a minute, visits are infrequent.

no, the problem is borders. only in places where land divisons do not exist, like nue's industrial craft or more recent survival server do people meet each other frequently. splicing the cities shortens the distance, but does nothing about the borders. and good luck relocating everyone's buildings into one massive city.

We already discussed restarting and it's not going to happen. Cropping heavily I don't know what means, I'd say we've done that plenty of times in the past, that's not the same as restarting.

The server will not restart. It is simply pointless. There are still just as many options to play now if you go a few km away from spawn as there would be if we restarted the server. But if we restart we simply delete all we've made in the past and that's pointless. I see no reason why I'd just trash the stuff I've spent months building just because people aren't willing to walk 2 km away from spawn or whatever to organize a "restart". There's literally nothing that hinders you from that.

As for the borders being the problem, I don't agree with that. You can make special regions, give building permissions and all that to people, you can run regions collectively and so on. The borders are really just lines marking an area with special rules or a location with a name, nothing else, and what it becomes from there is pretty much entirely up to you.

what fiah meant was to cut spawntown, desertopia, all the cities etc together into one large city, so that people would be more likely to collaborate instead of having mostly a singleplayer world.

and while you can make a special region, it is probably too late for that. in a server where spawn is open to everyone, people build freely and there is no sense that an area is largely owned by a person. but so much progress has already been made on blacraft that is it unlikely people will simply stop developing their region and start a new one (at least i wouldn't).

Why would they move to a new region if all their supplies, infrastructure, and buildings are in their old region? And i would rather expand my city than expend effort towards one which might or might not become inactive.

so fiah isn't suggesting everyone throw away their stuff, only that the cities are moved closer. but i don't think the plan solves the supposed problem.

It would simply make no sense to glue Aahrus, Spawntown, Desertopia, Revolt City etc. together into one city. The landscape, the roads, the underground, the water, the building styles, literally nothing would fit together. And even then, our cities are already big and we might as well just end up with districts dominated by single people because I'm not really interested in some random person getting an idea to build a cobblestone furnace on the roof of Spawntown Town Center.

I like the way the current world is. I think it's cozy to have large areas of land available for everyone and connect them with long roads and rails, etc. I like the current atmosphere of the world and I think the region system lets people start over if they want to. If it means abandoning the old resources and settling a communal city in a remote place where we play together for a week or however long we find it fun, I might join, and in the end, we could connect the city with rails and roads or whatever we want to.

I don't really have much to say regarding the idea of cutting the cities out of the regions and stitching them together. It's simply not going to happen.

I'm planning on rebuilding the enderman farm for the 1.8 update, just because even better farms can be built now. If people actually want it, I can build one, otherwise I might be able to allow you to build a temporary one if you put it in a reasonable location :P

I can make a bypath to the other island, but I think the main road should go north there, because the continent continues further east up there.

Wow, that does look amazing.

I built a portal for Pine Hill in Epicland, it's connected to the nether horse road network.

I also found a tinny tiny ravine.
