I have restarted it again, now. But be kind and gentle towards our little server. :P

Ok, no. This doesn't work. As soon as someone else logs on, it stops working. This isn't good, and I suspect that the person I'm getting help from is sleeping at this time. So, well... Tomorrow it might work. :P

We will see how it works on view distance 10 with 5 players on. We might have to upgrade to 640 MB RAM/10 players if we want it to work properly, but it'll cost twice as much... :/

We can only play 2 on the server at a time when the view distance is set to 15.

15 + 16 = 31. 312 = 961. 961 * 3 = 2883.
10 + 11 = 21. 212 = 441. 441 * 5 = 2205.

We cannot expect to load more chunks than 2205 without the server running out of memory.

So, when I log off for today, try to coordinate your useage of the server. Otherwise it'll probably run out of memory and crash, and I won't be here to restart it before tomorrow.

Write in the topic if you're going to log on or off.

I'm going to log on.

Also, I find this very trolling!
And at last, there's a new world map.

I think I know how to fix the Nether, which I'm trying now. Afterwards, I'll ask to have the view distance decreased again.

THE NETHER WORKS NOW!!! And the view distance is now 10. Everything should work now. :)

Also, you may now explore beyond the borders of the map, since the clay generation was fixed on Bukkit.

:P

I've changed the essentials plugin a little bit, and installed NoCheat. This should make it impossible for Quontex to bhop, sprint etc. Sorry! :P
I think I disabled a lot of commands for normal users, too, including anything which is not legit. Nicknames will now start with "Comrade", and my name is in red. Muahahahaha! >:D

If there's any problems with the NoCheat plugin, please tell me. I installed it with one click and can remove it with one click.

I'm thinking of installing TimeShift. If it's possible with that one to make the day/night cycle longer. I think the about 10 mins is too short. Maybe something like 30 mins or 1 hour would be good. What do you think?

Maybe 20 minutes or 30, but not an hour as that is too long.

256 MB still isn't enough for 4 players with a view distance of 10.

I could set it down to 8. Then 5 players will load 1445 chunks. Currently 3 players load 1323 chunks, while 4 players load 1764 chunks.

What do you people think we should do? Get refund and change host, accept a view distance of 8 or buy the 10 player version with 640 MB RAM, which costs the double?

And NeutronStar: Changing fog doesn't change the number of chunks loaded. It only changed how much is rendered, which your own computer does.

The strange thing is just that it worked fine yesterday with two of us playing on the view distance 15, which meant we had 1922 chunks loaded...

I'll ask to have the view distance decreased further, though. It probably won't have any effect before tomorrow.

Edit: I have asked it to be set down to 7. Then we're loading fewer chunks when playing 5 than if we were playing 3 currently. This must work.
Starting the server again now...

I've logged off for today.

New world map. Check The Battleground! I've decided to change the gameplay for The Battleground a bit, so it won't just be a boring zone where you go in, remove enemy players flags and place your own whenever you want, and everyone just do that.
Instead:

You plant flags in strategic positions (like small snow bases, or bigger bases, whatever you want). Those bases give you control of an surrounding area, the size depending on how developed the base is and its position in the terrain. WHEN a player has made that base, it will own the base. Another player can declare war on the "municipality" (red area) surrounding a single base, and within 3 days, they will have to fight for it, if the owner doesn't surrender it (refuses to fight for it).
All bases owned by a player (or team) is combined into an orange area, which is a controlled zone. You can only declare war on base municipalities adjacent to the ones you own.
Every player or team have their own unique flag composed of a 2x2 wool "image".

So far, I've chosen a completely red flag for me (or my team, if anyone wants to join it): Blaists.

I haven't yet decided how someone who doesn't have any base can jump into The Battleground and attack a base. I was thinking of them attacking from the edge of the region, but I'd find it wierd to be backstabbed from Plaxium Front, which I'm the onyl player who has actually developed. Maybe there should be an area in the middle which players can attack from? Maybe an area on the edge?

But don't you agree that this is the way the gameplay should be?
