I'm almost certain that I'm going to host the world through MinecraftBox. They have the features we're looking for: World upload/download, plugins/Bukkit, free voice chat (Quontex! :P), and they have servers available in Germany. Plus they have backup available, I think, although I might as well just download the map and backup on my own com.

But the price seems... Well... We can have a server with room for 5 players for 5.95 USD with 256 MB RAM, or 10 players for 11.90 USD with 640 MB RAM. Have we ever been more than 5 online? I think so. It might happen, but it's not often. But if I host it, I assume you might be more active. Do you think it is worth paying for?

Idk if there's a way to donate money to the server, though. I'm almost certainly not going to pay 11.90 USD a month for this...
What do you people think?

Do not implement Bukkit. When servers have Bukkit, I can't place blocks and stuff.

How do you know it's because of Bukkit?

Because when Atomic added Bukkit (his server worked perfectly before he did this) I couldn't place blocks. It could just be a coincidence (like maybe my computer can't handle Bukkit) or Bukkit really doesn't work right.

Could it be any of the mods he installed?
Have you ever tried any other servers using Bukkit (or which you don't know whether used Bukkit or not)?

Bla I like the idea of MinecraftBox, I wonder if it can have IndustrialCraft? (I'll put my industry underground in a niche no one can find :P)

I'd gladly donate a few dollars every sometime or other if I have any.

IndustrialCraft, I don't think that's possible, sorry. I don't like such game-changing mods anyway, so I don't think so.
But good. I think I'll start with 5 slots... *Collecting courage*... Hmm!

Are you getting the server thing right now?

You can outlaw the terraformer (just like you do the teleport and /give commands) and other advanced machines like that if you want. I think it would add a good addition to the game, because we begin to get our technology levels up, and then kaboom! Plus, it requires alot of resources, so imo it's pretty legit. You can look at the wiki if you want. And you wouldn't have to use it... but, okay then.

*crawls in my un-industrialized hole* (parody of what I used to say on #wiki-hurricanes where I'd crawl into my SHEM (southern hemisphere) hole)

Okay, I'll put the server up while waiting for Minecraftbox to send me the e-mail with the IP to the server.

The server is now ready!

de1a.mcbox.net:26011

I have added all of you who have played Blacraft before to the whitelist already.
There are some issues, though: Do not enter Nether portals.
Also, I'll still have to op you before you can use doors/chests in some of Spawntown.
I have written an e-mail to the owners of MinecraftBox and expect to get a solution soon.

Tell me if there's anything on the server which you're not satisfied with.

Edit: I got a reply. They told me to send the nether world, so I've done that. We're still solving the door/chest problem.
Edit 2: Also, I still got a new Nether. But the door/chest problem should be solved now. :)

Suggest the plugins you want on the server from this list of currently available plugins:

WorldGuard   5.0-alpha10   -
WorldEdit   4.4   -
mcMMO   1.0.16   -
Essentials (edit)(reset)   2.3.3   Installed
AutoSave   1.3.0   Installed
EssentialsChat   2.3.3   -
EssentialsGroupManager   2.3.3   -
EssentialsProtect   2.3.3   -
EssentialsSpawn   2.3.3   -
LWC   3.06   -
HeroicDeath   1.8.1   -
iConomy   5.0   -
NoCheatPlugin   1.04a   -
Runecraft   2.6.1   -
iConomyChestShop   2.75   -
CreativeStick   0.6.9   -
MagicCarpet   1.5.5   -
HeroChat   4.10.3   -
TimeShift   2.0.1   -
xAuth   1.2.5   -
Towny   0.68   -
Factions   1.3.0   -
WorldBorder   1.2.2   -
ecoCreature   0.0.5c   -
Residence   2.2   -
War   1.5.1   -
AppleTree   0.5   -
BorderGuard   3.1.0   -
Tombstone   1.2.9   -
FenceStack   1.13   -
LevelCraft   0.1.7   -
MoveCraft   0.6.9   -
Fight   1.1.4   -
BigCatch   0.7   -
VoxelAir   2.008   -

Edit 3: I'm not sure if the Nether problem is still being solved or if there's any way to solve it. This time, the Spawntown portal spawned inside a nice cave, though. Idk. Would you people vote for or against resetting the Nether to how it is now, if it can't be solved?

Edit 4: I'm 99% certain that the Nether problem is solved, when the one I sent an e-mail to hopefully changes the name of the DIM-1 folder to world_nether:

Unrelated to topic but look at the massive spam in Universe Sandbox 2 Support board.

I would suggest checking at the mods first.

HeroicDeath is pretty good for knowing how you died or something you would imagine the use.
Tombstones is good if you don't want your items spread out/get into the lava (for 3600 seconds). It just puts your items in a chest(s).
iConomy is good if you want economy (hence the similarity of the names, obviously).
EcoCreature is good for iConomy (I think?) since the mobs you kill will give you coins.

Maybe CraftBook? It allows you to create switchable lights with pumpkins and stuff, gates, and toggleable bridges, and elevators, so much you can do with it. But since it is not on the list of plugins, I am not sure if this is implementable.

And please add WorldEdit (you may have to allow the commands only to ops, or just builders to prevent griefing).

I don't know how I could possibly do that when it isn't on the list. And why would I add WorldEdit to a legit map? :P

iConomy is used with some mods, or you can make your own, afaik... I don't think it will work by itself...

But yes a mod using it will probably be good for an economy.

The server has memory problems. It keeps running out of memory. Maybe 256 MB RAM wasn't enough.
I'll have to decrease the view distance, as the performance was great on 10.

I just don't like asking the management-guy to change it again. :-[
