It's probably a bug, but when you launch the program it starts with very high volume settings
For example the program right now started with 697675.00% on master volume and 1886792.00% on music volume

What the heck, indeed! 

We're not sure how this happened, but it seems this bug affected a few other users too with our last update. Sorry for the loud noise! We're working on a fix for this to cap these to sensible limits, and also figure out how they changed in the first place.

And thanks for reporting that the actual audio settings were very high. Other users mentioned the startup sound was loud, but we weren't sure what was causing it.

We just pushed a new build that will fix this problem (Update 20.5.2). Just run (or restart Steam) to get the latest update.
