We are the content creators, we are the ones who make it boring for ourselves. Want to make it less boring? Make something interesting or write something interesting. Personally I think it's the slow flux of people becoming more involved in their respective communities: me, conlanging communities, Bla, gay communities, matty, art communities, and all others are so inactive on IRC as to not even make a dent anymore. It's sad but true. Naru, smj, yqt, tmc, and I'm sure others that I'm forgetting used to be much more integral parts of the community than they are now. Trying to work against this flow away from USF and into other communities seems to be nearly impossible, but there are still the few of us for which USF and/or its IRC is basically all that we have, which consists of blotz and osmotischen, but you have worldbuilding communities and nue has hurricane communities as well as college in the near future.

I think the main problem is we've talked about everything, said every sentence that's possible, had every possible conversation, in all languages, invented and played all possible forum games, and so on. There simply isn't anything more we can do, unless we want to repeat what we've already done.

I guess it was inevitable.

kolbla

yeah i'm not on irc for hours at a time because i'm playing games with people

A good portion of potential irc-ing has been converted into skyping and other collective gaming activities. I know most people on the IRC haven't participated in this very much, but it is increasing. For example, it initally, and still usually is, just me and TMC (and sometimes Yqt), but fiah now joins us when we play SpeedRunners.

There have been a few tuto-dar-fiah-me calls in the past few months but they are hard to start and perpetuate because we usually don't have a common activity. It's usually "conlanging" or "mapping" but that's not really something that everyone can talk about at once. Everyone's in different places, doing entirely different things, or in the case of mapping, only one person is actually doing it.

Blacraft calls seem to work though.

As for the forum, collaborative project/game topic activity has declined. So I guess that would be most of it.

I haven't noticed this, but I guess it's just me being in a different time zone combined with college. Same with Blacraft calls and activity besides from one several months back with Jorster.
