Actually a game like that exists. I think it's called "Planets" or something, but I do know that the visuals and art is really good. It's like an interplanetary minecraft

I think that more features could be added in the "Whats New" section, their is far too many features to list of course but you only outlined two features.

Apples pages for their devices look nice, something like them would be good but without the scrolling images since that can cause trouble on mobile devices. http://www.apple.com/ie/ipod-touch/

It would be better if it had it's own catergory  like "Universe Sandbox 2 open beta coming soon" or "coming soon", something like that.

Maybe change the background a little, make it bigger and more high res?
