I personally believe that removing Everything Else will only move the randomness to other, more serious boards. The forum needs a place like Everything else for everything else to go.
We're not the only forum that has such a user base.

That's the reason why forums, especially commerical ones, have admins to deal with a lot of issues, like in the case of this forum, verbal spam.

Being the only official forum for this commerical product...I wouldn't let it become such a mess. There would be a much bigger and vibrant community here if it wasn't chock full of spamtard.

Adios, I'll check in again in another six months....hopefully there will be some changes.

While I don't admit to understanding everything that goes on in Everything Else (does anyone?), I won't be removing it.

And regardless of your thoughts, using the word "retarded" in a derogatory way is insulting to those with actual mental issues. In the same way that calling something "gay" (in a negative way) is insensitive to homosexuals.

Not having those posts included when you click on "Most recent posts" is a good idea though.

The assumption of only about six people here has been the case since the last time I left around six months ago. I think my solution has a better chance of improving the numbers.

You'll notice, if you have been here for a while, that people don't tend to venture into the Everything Else forum as it is. Many users stick around for a while and never make a post there. Of course, they disappear for unknown reasons and may come back months later, but what community isn't comprised of a large deal of those people?

I am concerned about the perception of the product and I appreciated your suggestion.

And admittedly some of the forum content is confusing and might come across as childish. But that's what happens when you make a product that has such broad age appeal.

Weren't you a kid once too? I was. I made and thought and did and wrote all kinds of crazy stuff. Don't you have any empathy?

This place has become a community for them, however small. I'm not going to destroy that over purely capitalistic concerns.

That said, it's hard to imagine that the financial impact, if any, is notable... Universe Sandbox is selling really well. I've got a handful of people helping out on the next version and it's going to be awesome. In fact, we're working on some experimental stuff I hadn't expected to get to start on until 2013.

I would ask for everyone to keep the posts outside of Everything Else solidly on topic. Consider again that this is not chat, but a forum where each post should contribute to the conversation at hand.
