Option for speed vs quality
« on: October 05, 2011, 03:21:45 PM »
I've seen this in a couple programs like 3dvce.
The idea is to make slow simulations like evolution, and in the case of universe sandbox, accreation disks run faster. It also helps slower computers with simulations.

It seems that rendering and calculating the 3d objects slow the sim down. Maybe like dust, you could represent the objects with a circle instead of a 3d sphere with shadows, and all that.

Or maybe like gravitysimulator, there could be an option to turn off plotting! (showing everything as it moves, dust, suns, etc., since plotting is the largest drag)

would that be simple as writing a line of code that disables all graphics :P

I do think that an option for graphics being disabled would be good. But I think the point of this software is more to visualize it. That's more what GravSim is for. And if you really want to view it, use the built in ubox exporter thingy on GravitySimulator
