Nah, harvestmen (well, it can mean three different species, but usually a non-spider)... I don't like them either, but at least they still have a visible body. I hate just seeing a bunch of insanely out of proportion legs, extremely thin, walking around in a strange way. And especially when they vibrate if I touch its surroundings or web.
I also think it has something to do with the legs. The ones of harvestmen look a little more soft and maybe a little bit more thick. The legs of the spider I hate look sharp.

Hrk, I didn't used to be scared of big spiders but now there are certain ones that terrify me. Like the Northern american Banana Spiders, well the females. They lok as of they'd impale your hand.

Well, the real ones I should be thankful to in this case would be my parents (in a way, if I lived in North America, I wouldn't be me anyways, because I'd have different parents, but nvm). I occasionally read people thanking gods for things which they should really thank other people for, last time on a mod for SimCity 4 yesterday, where someone thanked God for a mod. It's probably just a way of speaking, but... Still...
Anyways, thanking [insert secular word] could be just as "wrong". But fun anyways.

In fact, the first spider I posted can't survive in nature anymore, but relies on our houses.
I also find these occasionally, they're the largest spiders living naturally in Denmark. If they get really big I don't like them either, but they almost always get trapped pathetically in my kitchen sink.
