Game not working for me on steam

I just now purchased this game. However it keeps telling me steam must be running and boots me back out --while I have steam running.  So I just keep hitting play from Steam and nothing is working.

Any help would be great.  I am located in New Zealand. Not sure if that matters or not.

Sorry for the trouble.

This issue is usually fixed by simply exiting Steam completely, then starting it up again.

Please also make sure you are launching Universe Sandbox ² from your Steam Library, not from a shortcut.

Let me know if you're still having trouble starting up.
