Climate and ice Sheet formation
« on: April 07, 2015, 08:56:48 AM »
Hey US2 development team,

Great job with this simulator.  It is quite impressive.  I have been following for some time (just creeping around the forums I suppose..since US1) and I had a question I figured I would post.

Recently, I tried putting the Earth into an ice age using the standard PMIP2 Last Glacial Maximum (LGM; 21kyr) orbital parameters. I noticed that snow and sea ice does expand in the NH but there is still somewhat of a seasonal fluctuation.  I imagine that simulating any kind of climate fluctuation on the Earth in this simulator is highly simplified using many parametrization. My question is: Can you add some kind of ice sheet formation in a simplified fashion mimicking LGM ice sheet size and extent on land (and possibly into the water) such as ice shelves, etc. based on global temp. and LGM GCM studies. Specifically, NH ice sheets such as the Laurentide Ice Sheet, Fennoscandian Ice Sheet and some expansion of the Greenland Ice Sheet.

Thanks team
