Question on orbits
« on: October 19, 2014, 03:11:14 PM »
How do I force a group of bodies to orbit a specific body? I'm trying to do the sphere of 1k planets with that sphere orbiting the sun, but it refuses to set the sun as the parental body. Tried auto orbit, doesn't do it.

I'm just trying to have it so that they all orbit the sun at the same time while also orbiting each other or whatever.

Edit: I think I got it by making the sun orbit the group, which isn't what I actually wanted. Also, having a view mode which shows the path from the perspective of a particular body, the previous version of Ubox had that and I found that to be a nice tool.

At the very moment i dont think you can, but it would be cool if there was a "specific orbit" movemtn tool for when placeing, where you would, after placeing the body, select the body you want it to orbit, that would be cool

Are you sure the sun's mass is more than all the planets combined?

if it is, you've got a bug, if it's not, use a bigger star.

You know its possible he was using a tiny star with around 1 tenth the mass of the sun, and giant planets that almost weigh half that each (Probably not, but its still possible
