Random Solar System Tool - New Feature in Alpha 12
« on: October 17, 2014, 07:04:19 PM »
Just setup the framework for a new tool to create random solar systems and it will be included in Alpha 12.

There's a lot of interesting directions this feature could go and we've really only scratched the surface.

What options would you like to see when creating random solar systems?

I think that an average planet seperation, habitableness (Meaning the chance of a habitiable planet to spawn) and maximum distance to star

I for one would love the option to maybe have a ratio of what the solar system is primarily made of, such as manly thing's like ice or gasses or mostly slicate's to determine how many terrestrial planet's there are to gaseous planet's or the opposite. Keep up that amazing work, what your doing here is fantastic. :D

Maybe even adding an axial tilt, it would be interesting to have and not all star system's have the same tilt as the next one, so it be nice if this was taken into account as well.

Since i m someone who love to creat it from start....i would like it too be an accretion disk....you could chose the size of the accretion disk, material density disposition and ect...Thats how i build my solar systems...They don t have 20 planets but i like them :)

not sure if it's at the bottom, but maybe binary and trinary star systems

I think that's planned for whenever they get the SPH system working.

YETH

But seriously with the current barycenters not working Idk if you're gonna see this anytime soon :?

Anyway this is awesome, good luck with it.
Just throwing this out there, but wouldn't it be easier just to have a WIP section on your Updates google document?

Not just binary trinary, what about quatinary systems?

I think he/she was just saving the trouble of listing all possible systems .-.

Awesome, now all i need to know is the very question i just put on the forum : How do i get US2 screenshots to be my forum avatar?       test for glow tool (sorry for the spam this adds, just testing as i am an extremely new user here  :-\

Another question : How do i get the random solar system feature, i honestly really want it, also that suggestion for an accretion disc, would be a toggleable option, as some people want to see the making of the planets, and others don't want to wait, they just want it :)

Hm, that's a bit troubling, as if we cant see it, how can we know, and for moderaters, I'm not sure if this is considered double posting, when there is a comment in between, so please, if it is technically double posting, please notify me ;) test for red color, again, very new user, so I'm testing things out quite allot

Well because in the picture we see the setting for the random solar system...was curious on what was the other stuff we couldn't see :)

How do i get the random solar system feature, i honestly really want it...

It will be included in Alpha 12 when it's released later in October.

and what are they other parameter that we cant see?

This feature is still in a very early state at the moment... Here's the latest version of the panel...

-Separate for gas giants, rocky planets and large moons mass/size range and distribution control options.

-Asteroid belts option

-Sort of "Abnormality" feature that will make probable planets or moons with weird parameters (like Uranus with it's extreme inclination)

Thanks, i got an idea tho! you can select whatever planet/star/moon type you want (if you set it to exoplanet, insted of a star it would be an exoplanet at the center, and around it random gas giants that can orbit that exoplanet, and for gas giant, orbiters = rocky planets, rocky planets orbiter=moons moons orbiter=small moons, and small moons, orbiter = dwarf planets(which are spherical planetoids) and finely dwarf planets, orbiter = asteroids, and id like it to also add moons if applicable (if its asteroids orbiting, it cant do any orbiters, as it is to small)

So basically you just mean a "Random Gravity System" tool?

By the way, Random Small Moons are usually a lot smaller than Dwarf Planets.

Thx Dan!

what is the maximum of number of object you can add?

2) would it be possible to have a maximum distance for the object like the solar system size we could set? (like 1 au, 2 au and etc? ok no i think its already there, but in what unit is it? i see a 3.00 and a 10.00.

With this i could make accretion disk for stars or planets.

But i would need one other thing....to be able to set the average maximum size of objects. like if i set it to 200 km...i could find a few around it...but most objects would be smaller than 100 km and etc ;)
