I believe that we shouldn't make Christmas not religious.
It already isn't really religious anymore.
Hmm, well, the original tradition wasn't religious, at least not Christian (most of what was religion then is myth today). Today many people certainly see it as very Christian, and from my experience most people are completely ignorant of its history. People think the tradition was actually established to celebrate the birth of Jesus. I think it's sad that people are so misinformed, and that religious people use it to promote Christianity.
Also, I don't recommend reading only the first few sentences of the blog post. It would probably be better not to read it at all, if you don't want to/don't have time to read it all. It will probably give you the wrong image of the issue it discusses.
It's just a time to glorify corporations by buying their products.
It is true that the corporations are probably very happy about the yule.
I've considered to either refuse to receive presents or to give all the money gifts I might get (or some high percentage) to charity. In the first case I would probably be ignored.
Hm.
I think I'll just call it yule. It's jul in Danish anyway. And I will rage on anyone who refuses to recognize my tree as a yuletree/juletræ!
