Improved planet textures and planet models

Hi folks! 

just bought US on steam and am having loads of fun.  i searched the forum for a general 'mod pack' and while i saw plenty of help regarding how to's i was wondering if there is an existing one already being used by the community.

generally i am looking for improved planetary models (that have a higher poly count so that they don't appear angular on zoom; maybe a rougher non-spherical selection of asteroids) as well as improved textures (non-pixelated sun, a more detailed earth, mars, etc.).  it's fluff but i'm still asking  .

on a side note, would love to see weather patterns in a new version!  imagine watching a turbulent gas giants, morphing clouds on earth-like planets or erupting sunspots (in 3d!)!  ooOOOoh, while i'm at it, a new view, neutrinos!  ok ok, i'm getting ahead of myself, i'll settle for improved models and textures  .

If you select any object, select to the Physical properties tab, and type 'sphere' into the "Model" textbox, it will increase the poly count.

A more automatic version of this is on the list of things to improve.


You can use the high-res textures from here:

to improve the texture quality.
