Crashing in most simulations
« on: May 20, 2009, 04:43:10 PM »
This program looks amazing, and I've been able to play with it a little bit, but pretty much every simulation crashes within a minute or so of running. I can reload the simulation, it works again for a moment, then crashes again.

This is loaded on windows XP SP3, running under bootcamp on a MacBook Pro.

Anything I can do to troubleshoot?

Sorry you're having trouble.

Can you send me a crash report or two and mention in the comments that you're "natmartin" from the forums?

That should give me a good idea what the problem is.

(This is assuming that you presented with the option to send in a crash report.)

Yeah, it gave me the option each time. I sent a whole bunch last night.

I'll try again tonight, and add that to the comments. Thanks!

I sent a bunch of crash reports a few minutes ago. Hope it helps!

That's really strange, but likely quite solvable.

All four of your crashes looked like this:
26923 | 2009-05-21 00:17:13.296 * Error: Global Crash | Arithmetic operation resulted in an overflow. | at 038AA.198AA(588AA HSV, Single Alpha)

It appears to be a problem with the color conversion code. What's strange is that it happens to you all the time, but I've never seen this error from anyone else. (actually that's not true - A few others have reported it)

Is there something that you're doing that causes this (like clicking a specific button) or does it seem to be random?

It mostly seems random. Probably the one thing that will make it happen the most is clicking in the window to move the camera around.

But a few times it crashes when I have the menu up, and press a button but not the same button each time. And a few times it crashes when I'm just watching the simulation without interacting with it at all.

Any additional information you need?
