White dwarf simulation (G29-38)
« on: October 26, 2015, 05:55:29 PM »
I'm trying to create a simulation of a fictional planetary system around the factual white dwarf G29-38 (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/G_29-38). I'm starting with an empty simulation and trying to modify Sirius B to match these properties.
  • Mass 0.69 sun
  • Radius 8.2x108cm
  • Density 6.0x106 g cm-3
  • Teff 11,820 K
  • Lum .0024 sun
But whenever I try to get everything set correctly, I can't seem to get all of those set the way I want. Something is always shifting out of whack as I adjust something else. Is there a method to get everything set the way I want it?

G29-38 also has a debris disc. I was wondering what the radius units for rings - radius, length, and geo refer to.

  • I hope these asteroids don't cause trouble

Try turning "Realistic" off.

That helps, and also remembering that density is directly related to mass and radius. :-[

oh my god thank you I had no idea about that option and was endlessly frustrated that I couldn't get any of my objects the way I wanted them
