Making Earth out of Ceres/Vesta
« on: September 16, 2015, 01:00:22 AM »
This is a shameless self-promotion post, but I thought I'd post it if it's allowed:

My Youtube channel is based on Universe Sandbox 2 videos along with Kerbal Space Program and a few other science sandbox games.
Check out the recent video where I tried to use protoplanets to recreate Earth: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zVndZz30FSA

Thanks for watching  ;D

I enjoy your videos very much!

To me these videos really stand out, because you're one of the few that don't simply smash things into each other. Most of the time there's something to learn for viewers and you seem to really take your time to flesh out video ideas before you start recording.

Really good job, looking forward to more videos.

Nice Video!
I apparently have figured that roughly you need a Venus and a mars to make the moon (or 2 moons) but the problem is the Venusian atmosphere wouldn't go away and the fragments just want to die a lonely death. Is there any way the simulate the Theia collision then?

Maybe slow down the velocity of the fragments?
