I decided to pop in again to leave my opinion on this project as a whole (not just the new IU). I hate to be pessimistic but I am starting to lose hope. When I decided to keep up with the development of this simulator and be an alpha tester, I was hoping to see this finished quite soon. I know that developing a game isn't easy at all, but lately you guys have been taking way too long to release new Alphas and I think I've lost my interest.
What bothers me is that, instead of working on things that need to be done (like, adding galaxies, improve collisions, better climate sims etc), you guys spend way too much time on secondary tasks. The IU was absolutely fine as it was and I dont see a strong enough reason to change it. In my opinion this is just a waste of time.
Look:
Because the severity of these changes getting everything working again is taking longer than the typical month update cycle that we were aiming for... we'll be releasing an opt-in preview version as soon as we have collisions in working shape again, at the moment we're not sure how long that will take.
That is the problem. In every single version you guys release, you add new features and fixes a few bugs, but you always mess up a bunch of other stuff. That happens all the time and if you keep that pace, the game will take a generation to be finished. See, you're having lots of work to get everything working fine since this new IU has generates some errors and bugs. A new IU can be cool (maybe), but I don't want to wait so damn long to see the whole thing finished. I'm 19 and have been keeping up with this project for 2 years. When you guys are done, I'll probably be married and have 3 kids. So yea, I bet my kids will love US and I can't wait. (This is just an exaggeration, don't take it so literally)
