[IDEA] Add an edge of the Observable Universe boundary

I'd like to start a new thread for this because you guys don't seem to be able to deal with many informations at the same time (no offense).

I'd like to know your opinion on this idea. The idea is to implement a boundary of the observable universe as well as its expansion over time (which isn't that hard to do). I don't get a good sense of scale when I zoom out to the infinite. There should be some reference.

Btw, I've lazily edited an screenshot to try to illustrate my idea. (Note: The "i" there is for information. you are supposed to click that)

I agree that there should be some reference points, but the OU Boundary is way too big to use as a scale. Maybe there should be multiple circles with labels like "r1000km" and other fun stuff like "Smallest thing visible to the human eye"

You know, having distance labels at intervals for the circles while placing something in orbit would be nice because it's hard to get a sense of scale of how far you are from something if you can't see what the distance is. Not all of the circles need to be labelled, it can just be at intervals like 1 AU, 0.5 AU, 0.1 AU, or outwards from 1 AU to 10 AU, 20 AU, 30 AU, 40 AU, 50 AU, 100 AU. Or whatever GA thinks works best.

I agree. I always have trouble when adding a planet in orbit. I try to add it in the habitable zone but I never know how far away from the star it will be.

This is a solid idea, gabriel. Similar to something I've seen in a video for another simulator, can't remember which one off hand.

I'm glad you liked it. As I said, zooming out to the infinite is kinda pointless.

Now that I think about it... The observable universe is relative to the position of the observer. So I suggest that, in a new simulation, the first object added will automatically set it as the observing point and the edge of the observable universe will appear and stay as it is

Well, there is no point for that though. The entire point of being the Observable Universe is that the Earth is in the centre. Because it's our frame of view.

Yeah, that's what I was kinda thinking about.
But I would like a boundary where you could set it to how far out you would like it to be.
And if I add a lot of moons around a planet, and one of the moon's leaves the system.
 I don't want to go out and find that object and delete it.
Lets say I set the boundary to about the size of the sol system.
Then I just start fiddling with some moons around a large object.
Eventually, one of those moons will be thrown out of orbit and never to return.
And while I'm fiddling with this planet and adding more moons, I don't notice that a few of the moon's have left the system.
The purpose of this boundary, is to delete any objects that pass that boundary.
So, those few moons that I didn't notice leave the system, will be automatically deleted from the simulation when they reach the point where I set the boundary, which is about the size of the sol system.
And a notification will appear saying that these body's were removed from the simulation because they've surpassed the set boundary.
And this notifications can be turned off at any time.
Also this boundary can be set to any distance the user feels suitable to the users needs.

What do you think guys?
