It is nice that you've made a blog post about Alpha 13. It is taking way to long to be released.

I honestly am not quite sure what the point of planetary cutaways is. Sure, it is one more feature, it looks great, but will you be able to edit it? Will the materials "equalization" affect the layers of the internal structure of objects?

Also, we are not 100% sure what's inside objects like Europa.

Thanks so much Cryo!

Making a universe simulator is hard.

I honestly am not quite sure what the point of planetary cutaways is.

Because it's awesome and informative.

... will you be able to edit it? Will the materials "equalization" affect the layers of the internal structure of objects?

Yes and Yes! They are real-time editable material layers based on science!

See the sliders on the right side of that image? Just drag them to change the moon's material composition ratios.

We are not 100% sure what's inside objects like Europa.

We're not 100% sure about lots of things, but we have to come up with values in order to display anything at all. Exoplanets are a good example... where all we really know (in most cases) is an approximate mass, but in order to make it a simulateable planet in Universe Sandbox ² we have to populate its properties will all kinds of data. We do our best to make these estimates reasonably plausible. And when better data is available or our values are shown to be wrong, we'll aim to fix them.

Great! Now I'm excited for this new thing. That will definitely give more importance to the option to change the materials.

I still wonder whether we'll be able to freely modify the mass/radius/density of objects, considering that they depend on the materials they are made of. This is a problem that we didn't have in US1. Say, if I make the Earth 100% Hydrogen, then its radius will increase. Then if I change the radius of the planet (in the "Basic" tab) and make it smaller, it will be incompatible with the Materials... I'm not sure how that is going to work.

Oh and by the way, when  said Alpha 13 is taking way too long to be released, I didn't mean to sound rude. Sorry if it seemed offensive : ) As you know, english isn't my first language, so sometimes I don't pick the right words

I'll have to say that the Planet Cutaway feature is very nice, maybe you could blog a picture of Earth with the feature in action? Also, in the edit feature, can you change how large the mantles are, and how many layers?

Mars Climate is fun, what other planets/moons have climate now?

And, as always, can't been any more excited for Roche Limits.

This will be an amazing update, and I simply cannot wait for it

Digging the new features, including the cutaways. Any word on fixing the binary SMA edit bug?

Making the editing of binary star systems work well is on the list of things to do. Unfortunately these changes won't be in Alpha 13. Do you have thoughts on how you'd like that to work? (maybe make a new thread about it)

Establishing a barycenter would probably be a first step since it doesn't seem like Ubox2 alpha knows what a barycenter is.
