What's new?
Thereâ€™s a brand new look to the Create, Add, and Chart panels, which now use thumbnail tiles instead of long text lists.

Weâ€™re introduced a few new Create tools, including rogue-planet encounters, randomized solar systems, material grids, and over 200 new choreographies.

This update also has reworked collision fragments, improved supernovas, and overhauled planetoid rendering.

Also, we can now explode things!

what about the explode button in the other stuff tab (the third tab) when editing a body? Will that be functional?

You know, back in the previous version ( the old ubox2), when you exploded stars, they would end up with ridiculously high luminosities (or was it temperature?). I wonder if that was fixed.

The explode feature in Alpha 12 is still really basic... there's still much work to be done on breaking bodies apart. It's fun now, but will become awesome later.

This is by far the best update. The UI is much less confusing now!

One of the things I liked the most is that you guys got rid of that useless non-editable left-click menu when you click an object. Now a left click opens the properties menu and there is the visualization of the body selected on top. My suggestions are: 1) Make that object in the visualization spin slowly. 2) Implement a small button that allows you to hide that image, because it takes up too much space.

Another thing that I find necessary is.... transparent backgrounds. The thumbnails in the add menu should have transparent backgrounds (specially the thumbnail of stars). The same applies for the visualization of the object in the properties menu of a body. Besides that, everything is fine, I guess.

I am still waiting for you to add sounds, btw

For the explode tool on the powers tab, in the future, if you explode a planet, can they generate superheated parts of the planets surface with a ragged bottom that came from within the planet. That would not only be cool, but realistic!!

How do you see the distance something is from you or another object? You can't see that anymore.

This update is terrific. I got it either yester or the day before, but didn't have time to really experience it. The interface is such a nice change, as well as practically everything else. A job well done.

(Also, I apologize for having times in which I'm active on the forums, and then practically disappear. Friends, school and just life in general has made it hard to stay in touch. But now I definitely have more time for this forum and program!)

They'll be back in an upcoming update.

It's taking a bit longer than we had planned. There is a preview of Alpha 13 available if you choose to opt-in, but some features are still works-in-progress .
