[KNOWN] Gas giant incosistency at two points of mass increase.
« on: October 15, 2014, 08:20:07 AM »
I've noticed that gas giants changes drastically for planets having 13 and 104 mass of Jupiter - at points when they turn into brown dwarfs or star.
When mass goes above 13 jupiters, suddenly surface temperature jumps up to 2000 kelvins (At age of 0 years), and it becomes independent of nearby stars, even if star could warm surface of gas giant above 2000 kelvins.

Another too visible transition point is at 104 mass of Jupiter - they are dark red, and at 105 Jupiters texture of it becomes much brighter. Also suddenly it can considerably warm planets, when they are few radius from said star.

Here is simulation with 4 gas giants http://www18.zippyshare.com/v/82499169/file.html
They are at both sides of transition points for two masses.

Smoothing temperature and radius transitions at these specific points is on our to-do list for the near future.

Thanks for noticing the details, and for setting up an excellent example simulation.  :)
