Wait.. whut?

Maybe those are craters or brighter areas in the moon? They really do look like city lights though.

I opened up a simulation and spawned a moon... It does appear to be city lights. I wonder my they added this..

If I were Dan, I would've classified the moon as a terrestrial planet (considering the solid elements of the moon) and therefore you would infer that there is a civilisation (capable of) living on it

Basically, it's normal. :D

I think this might be a very possible hypothesis. Although, wouldn't that mean all of the planets in the solar system are rendered with city lights?

There were reports like this one, except with Mars, Venus and other similar planets. So yeah, I guess so.

I think this may be a bug with the heightmaps and lighting system. If they were city lights I don't think Georg would've made them so dim and scarce.

Plus, I'm sure Dan would've said something about it in the changelog.

He could have , i have a theory to answer that, as you know if we where be suspended above the our current location's and watch time play in reverse we'd see that the cty or town is getting smaller over time maybe this is a city still growing

Erm, your engine seems to be running on wishful thinking now.

Why exactly would Georg make the starting point at such a certain level to confuse us all? Honestly, if I were in charge of city light level default I would've made it a lot higher for it to be actually passively notciable.

I am extremely confident in saying that this may be a small bug with low dips/rips in the heightmap in which the starglow is leaking through.

unless GA is conspiring with extraterrestrials and know about alien bases on the MÜÜÜÜÜÜN!!!

Yeah this looks cool. Maybe they accidentally added it into Alpha 8? I really hope that it's not a bug because this looks REALLY cool

This is most likely a bug. Maybe they will add an option to add city lights to a planet in the future.

Actually it's a glitch with the height maps and lighting. A new planet without creators still renders this bug.

Can this be a failure of texture hopefully correct it in Alpha 8

C7 said you will get your codes after we have a chance to test alpha 8 for you guys to make sure that it's stable.

Tried to recreate a planet from my fiction website. These are definitely city lights:

Or a momentarily forgotten one... :)

Nice catch. Added a bug about this.

There shouldn't be lights on the moon, normally... and yeah, they're way too dim.

I go to the Alpha and I see city lights on coastlines of Earth. :/
