It was a joke. Your sentence also had a second meaning, "Can we rescue the solar system?", and he took advantage of that.

Of course, what you are trying to say is "can we save the simulation files for later"?
No, because  the different Alphas have big updates, therefore if you saved a file from Alpha 7 and ran it in Alpha 8, your computer wouldn't know how to handle it and make lots of errors.

What I'm saying is that saving a simulation would be useless because there quite a lot of big code updates, and trying to run a program from Alpha 7 in Alpha 8 would be like trying to use code from Half Life One in Half Life Two.

The files just don't correspond.

hypothetically a alpha tester can save a sim but once theres a big new update they lose it?is there even a save option in alpha 7?

can we save the solar-system "Alpha 8"?

Most likely YES!
We have recently added Save/Load for simulations, as well as single objects.
It's a super new feature and not totally finished, but then again it's Alpha!  8)

Will Alpha8 files work with Alpha9, etc?

While we're in Alpha there can be breaking changes between versions.
Everything needs testing, and the save/load process is no exception.
So its not (yet) guaranteed files carry over all the time.
We'll let you know how and when breaking changes occur.

Yes! I've mentioned this idea quite a lot, did you do this on your own or did I inspires you ? :3

Anyway, can you save rings, too?

Saving and sharing objects was always part of the plan ;)
We chose JSON as data format and are now experimenting with different ways of sharing these files.
Here is one example, the image itself IS the saved object (and an in-game thumbnail):
