Misc bugs
« on: June 22, 2014, 02:59:33 AM »
Here is my bug in video form www.youtube.com/watch?v=N2FK7MAwqw4 www.youtube.com/watch?v=N2FK7MAwqw4&feature=youtu.be
The problem is gravity, in fact when I try to enter a celestial body in orbit, the object goes away without when.It happens with collisions, the fragments do not fall.

Try restarting or reinstalling US2. That should fix it.

Stelio also happens to me, alpha 7 is much more unstable than Alpha 6.

Thanks for attaching the log file, that was very helpful.
I have identified the problem and will try to provide a hotfix asap.

Should I post the bug report on the buggy orbital properties settings here or make a new thread?

I guess I'll post a couple.

Moon-blackhole collision strangeness (then again, black holes are strange):

When doing the collide moon with blackhole, the moon instantly turns into a star with an exact mass of 1 Sol. However, repeats of that same collision have the moon turn into a red dwarf rather than a G type star. Though if I have it pause the sim at start and go realtime (well, slightly faster than realtime), it always turns into a 1 solar mass star (no idea if diameter is correct). Doing it at 0.100 sec timescale makes it turn into a red dwarf each time.

Going at 50 ms/sec produces stranger results, sometimes both objects simply vanish, but a few times I saw (for a split second) a big bright blue asteroid surrounded by whiteness before vanishing. Checking it out at about 1 ms/sec, and same results with sometimes vanishing alltogether and sometimes showing that blue asteroid for the briefest of instances before completely vanishing.

Had to compress it because attachment file size limit.

(second log is for this one) The explode hotkey doesn't work and there isn't any explode button, tried exploding Mercury in the opening sim, both at max and min energy. Also, the force power doesn't seem to work, or maybe I don't know how to use it.

Yeah, looking at the output, looks like it was overflowing the mass and temperature into infinity or something.

alpha 7 runs perfectly for me the only bug i found was the sph thing and overloading the memory of the game when shooting asteroids like a minigun

Try doing crazy things like spinning an object at crazy speeds and colliding something into it.

Probably a bug, another video about this.

I don't think a video is neccesary for the black hole-moon collision one.

What procedure do you guys have for when the program just freezes and goes not responding but doesn't actually crash?

I was messing around with collisions and when doing the wolf red dwarf and sun, it did some spectactular stuff and then after the supernova went, the program simply froze. I was going at a timestep of 10 min per sec.

It also did the same thing when doing sun vs sun collision, but due to randomness, I couldn't replicate that.

Also, theres a conservation of mass problem while colliding two suns where sometimes the resulting mass of a fragment or collision will result in a massive star MUCH more massive than the total of two suns.

Do you have labels on and other visual stuff? Might want to post a screenshot.

Whats happens when you collide a black hole and earth,i had to put the timestep to super  slow motion to be able to see it

There are also strange conservation of mass issues with colliding things with stars and stellar fragments.
