Possible Dwarf Fortress succession game. (check ze OP)
« on: January 12, 2013, 07:58:27 PM »
This is the outpost Zanegisan Relicstills. the terrain is of low savagery and minerals are in abundance.
I will play the first season, then all joiners will, in order, play the seasons to follow. you also get to name a dwarf.
Players get 3 days to take their turn, meaning you don't have to do everything all in one sitting!

First though, you need the game. Download it for free from http://www.bay12games.com/dwarves/
I recommend the SDL version. Just extract it into it's own folder then make a shortcut to the exe or something. Some important things:
- You'll probably want to play in a bigger window too, so go to data/init/init.txt, find the windowedx/y tags and enter a resolution.
- I'll put up the save file, this goes in the 'data/save' directory. If overwriting, delete the original before pasting the overwrite. Just pasting the save over the old one results in corrupting the file.

Players:
Matty406
Atomic7732 (maybe)
Bong
Fiah
Hellpotatoe (maybe)

Remember to let me know if you want a dwarf named, which I'll do as I set everything up in the first season.
If that's everyone, I'll start the game.

Players will play for a season. In Fortress mode, there is no day/night cycles and you won't even notice time passing nor will you have a need to, all that matters time-wise is months and seasons.

You'll know when a season has passed when it says stuff like "summer has come" or "winter is upon you". If you're still not sure, check which month you're in at http://dwarffortresswiki.org/index.php/Month#Months_and_seasons then look a the corresponding season.

We each take single player turns of the same game. when you've reached the start of a new season and you see the message pause the game, save, and quit. Go to the save games folder and upload the folder as an attachment I guess.
If the fort fails on your turn, you are free to get the last uploaded save to start again. However if it proves to be a stalemate (as in none of us can overcome the current failure) the game will finish.

It's named SUCCESSION in caps.
