Disturbing radio transmissions coming from the Andromeda Galaxy
« on: October 12, 2009, 06:52:19 PM »
Since I began to understand and get more interested in our largest (yet smaller) neighbor Andromeda, I began to wonder, "has there ever been radio transmissions that have been found from our closest spiral neighbour?"

Finally, I came across this video around 3 days ago.
I believe that these are radio signals coming form another civilization far more advanced that us.
What do you think?

I find it disturbing because it ends very quickly.
If this was sound from stars and many other things, it would continue instead of cutting off at a specific time.

Who knows where this came from. The video is sparse on details and doesn't provide any source or references.

Who captured it?
How was it captured?
How long did the signal last?
Can you still hear this signal if you point at the same spot in the sky?
What wavelength was this captured at?
Is this sound being played back in real time?

The video claims this is not a result 'natural' phenomena but provides no evidence or explanation for this claim.

I suspect that the claims in this video are false.

It is very unlikely that this is from an alien civilization.

Just like most of you, I want humanity to find intelligent alien life in the universe. I want it to be true, but I will only believe it if there is good, verifiable evidence to prove it.

I knew there were people who thought that the TV always tells the trueth.
I didn't thought that their children's children would think that the internet always tells the trueth. :\

yer if this was picked up by some random person im pritty sure that it would have been picked up by other people around the globe

but i do believe that life existed out side our sol system and im pretty sure that if we cropped up in a aliens territory im sure that there gov would be looking at us very closely behind there nations back also

i mean you got to think to your self what would the American gov do if a set of ppl appeared in texas or new life was found that was intelligent like our selves in our own back yard

yer im pretty sure they'd be dissecting them taking them out there habitat behind your back this idea that they are so smart and advanced that they would leave us alone is obscured the more smart they are the more chance they would be watching us even closer
also this idea of first contact is silly also all they have to do is watch us for 10 min and see that thats a bad idea

i mean it tuck less than a year after the first air plane tuck off that we built AA guns to take it down

And people are always saying why are we not hearing radio transmisions from aliens, but they could be just like us, sitting back and waiting for a civilization to emit some sort of sound.
I think we should begin sending of transmissions so the know we are here and visit us.

Arata, I agree with you on that.

However, how would thay understand our language? How would we even know what to say?

Would we even be told if aliens ever visited earth?

People can only see it in the Southern Hemisphere.

Yes, Andromeda can be seen in the northern hemisphere. Last year I looked desperately for it with my binoculars, but I couldn't find it (I probably couldn't separate it from the normal stars). :( :-[

But recently I thought about aliens, and consider this:
If aliens had evolved advanced space technology and had an interstellar empire, it would be very likely that they wouldn't harm us. If they were very aggressive species, they would probably have blown themselves up in our stage where we're still on one planet and have weapons of mass destruction, like hydrogen bombs.
So we might not have to be afraid of aliens, they're probably peaceful. :)

If you look in the constellation cassiopea, you will see a a faint splotch the size of the full moon.
Thats andromeda.

Wasn't it something like... If you have the W figure of Cassiopeia, you take \/\/ the highlighted part of it and multiply by 5 or something, then you'll end up at the Andromeda Galaxy. Or is that why I never found it? :P
But I don't think it's the size of the full moon, are you really sure about that?

Edit: No, if you want to see the Andromeda Galaxy it's better to use this video, it explains it much better.

How can you see 12.5 bya ago, and 12.5 bly away? Does that answer your question. If it is a point source, and it doesn't spread out, if it were a paralell beam (like a laser) then e could hear it.

Then explain to me why they call it the "Andromeda Galaxy" deoxy.

I'm not sure who I said it to, I think it was monmarfori though. I meant gennerally, you might not be able to see it year-round.
