We do get these big storms from Alaska, so that's probably what it is.
Where I live (in the 'lowlands', that is, not in the mountains), it's just alot of rain, and of course cold.

yeah it collides with itself and gets stronger. also they seem to act a lot more with much less pressure gradient over their fronts
