community ns map guidelines

because when i post them in the topic they keep on getting buried and no one sees them. these have all been voted on and if you want to change them you should vote here.

also if you want your vote column protected from other people editing you should pm your email to me so i can lock your column. everyone except fiahowl's and swonx's column is protected.

  • use gimp files. xcf extension. nothing else will be accepted
  • no colors on the bottom layer of the file; just borders

strange i tried editing your column, changing your email, making a new column it doesn't work.

i made the spreadsheet unlisted so you should be able to edit your columns now anyways

well i need to know the angular resolution of:
west coast north america
west coast south america
northeast coast north america

to see if 0.07 to 0.1 is a poo or not.

So how do the borders even work with angular resolution? If we define borders to be 2px thick they will look bigger and smaller at different altitudes anyway. I voted against.

borders stay same thickness, but the detail in them changes because closer to the poles they get stretched out and stuff.

no i'm not really sure why some are thick and some are thin? the y-scale doesn't change in an equirectangular map, only the x scale. borders are supposed to be infinitely thin, we just use two pixels so we can see them accurately, but they won't be affected by the scaling.

I think it'd be too difficult and would force people to un-complexify and over-complexify their coastline and borders.

Well if you put them onto a sphere they will be stretched closer to the equator and become thinner near the poles. (Ignore about my drawing which does the opposite, if they're constantly two pixels thick they will appear thicker near the equator).

But yes, I agree with Atomic. We could try to wrap it around a sphere and see if anything looks odd, but I think setting up rules for it makes it unnecessarily complex and something I wouldn't want to have to think about and calculate when drawing a map.

it looks fine if it's separated by 2000km of land or 5000km of ocean
the coastline is not everywhere, amirite?

do you see the column with your name on the top? you should be able to write stuff in the boxes in your column
