The game has yet to begin.

The year is 1938, and the world is set to begin to change. In Europe, tensions begin to heat up between the Nazis, the Soviets, and the Western countries as Hitler's plans are in a roll into invading Austria. In Spain, the civil war between the two factions grow as the Axis and Western European countries supporting the Nationalists and the Republicans, respectively. In Asia, the great war between the Chinese and Japanese has yet to come into the great point of destruction, as they begin to fight over the east. The sleeping continents of the Americas and Africa are drawing near into the set of a new destructive war...

Yes, Matty controls all of the pink area, although dominions (ex. Canada, South Africa, Australia) can be controlled by a player, though with some control from Britain itself.
