Background should be Black

I've noticed, when turning off the backround, it doesn't turn black, but gray...can this be changed? It's hard to see systems sometimes, because lack of contrast. But when i turn the background down, it's even worse.

Try changing the brightness, turning it all the way down should make it black.

On this image I turned the background off. It's black (0 red, 0 green, 0 blue on the RGB scale).
Maybe your monitor makes black look grey if it has high brightness or something?
