Is there any way to create a custom ring system using those thin gradient strips I see in the media folder?

Do you mean setting a ring color or gradient in a simulation XML file?

If so, unfortunately, at the moment, this isn't possible.

Can't she could put a gradient in the folder of the US 2 folders, and get an extra option on the menu?

That's a good idea, but wouldn't work. All the gradient options, in 2.0.7, are hard coded (not created dynamically by looking for available files).
