Asteroid Pack
« on: June 03, 2010, 02:56:19 PM »
I created 7 different asteroids and one texture to be used freely by the community.
Instructions are included.
Enjoy :)

Copy all files except asteroid_showcase.xml and appearance.txt to
the Media folder of your Universe Sandbox 2 installation folder.
Do NOT put them in the Media folder of your Universe Sandbox 2 user folder.
In the Data folder of your Universe Sandbox 2 installation folder, edit Appearance.xml,
and paste the contents of appearance.txt just under the last </Object> tag.
Put the asteroid_showcase.xml file in your Universe Sandbox 2 user Systems folder
.

The bolded sections are things I don't understand.
Edit: OH!!!! I GET IT!

In the folder where US2 is installed, you'll find another folder called 'Data'. Inside that is appearance.xml.
Open that with a text editor, such as notepad, go to the bottom of the file. Find the last line that says </Object>, place the cursor at the end of it, hit return, then paste everything that's in the appearance.txt file from the asteroid pack. If you're not confident about getting this right, make a copy of appearance.xml first, so you have a backup.

You have a Universe Sandbox 2 folder in My Documents as well. The asteroid_showcase.xml file goes into 'System' folder inside that US2 folder.

I like 1, 2, 4 and 5, the others seem too bumpy. I like the base of 7, but it's too bumpy.

Good textures btw.

Well gee... sorry  :-\
It might be of help to someone else, though.
