What happened to Universe Sandbox 3 a few years ago?

i meant for like 6 years, US2 is still in alpha O__O big suprise there and i thought a sequel was being developed,then i waited really long and i gave up, and bam suddenly its in alpha

6 years? What are you talking about? US2 has been in development since 2010 and was privately released on November 6, 2013.

This is what I think happened to Universe Sandbox 3

First there was Universe Sandbox version 1 and then Universe Sandbox version 2. There was some discussion about Universe Sandbox 3 but it should have been called Universe Sandbox version 3. Version 3 never happened. They started over from scratch and called it Universe Sandbox ². This was a complete rewrite.
