i'm getting some 503 error's not sure why

On the forum?

There were problems with the forum yesterday for some hours with a 503 error I think, most forums/servers have issues occasionally, usually all you can do is wait for them to get resolved by the hosts.

Apparently there was a heartbleed, aka code flaw in SSL. passwords leaked, everyone change them!
p.s. lots of articles on google explain it better than i can
tl;dr: CHANGE PASSWORDS
