My trial version of fractal terrains may have expired, but it still works, mostly. I have a .png file (or a couple of them), but I'm not sure how I'm going to turn that into a texture. I may need something else for more barren planets, as fractal terrains does not understand the term 'uninhabitable'. Also something for gas giants. And I'd prefer it to not be completely random; I do have defined parameters for all of the planets involved.
Here's the pngs.
Here's a planet of five earth masses, habitable, the areas that look like desert are actually deciduous and/or tropical rainforest, don't ask me why it colored them like that. One of them is actually a desert, but it's not anywhere near water, so it's mostly distinguishable from the rest.
The second is said planet's moon, which is about the size of mars. It's a bit colder than its primary, but is still habitable in several areas (the places that look like desert on this one vary between alpine forest and temperate forest, and the green is tundra. Hell, green is probably tundra on the primary too.)
