Game loads, but won't start

Hi, I recently purchased Universe Sandbox, and after verifying that I had the correct version of .NET installed, the game was able to run (as in, create a process without an error window coming up) but all I get is the little spinning loading icon. I've left it on for extended periods of time at the thought that it is just taking a long time to load, but I never get a black screen or anything, just the loading icon that fades into view and stays there forever. When I go to task manager, I can clearly see "Universe Sandbox" running in the processes (but not applications), but there's no other indication that anything is even happening. I've tried running it within and outside of Steam. I've never seen a thread addressing this problem specifically, but is there a known fix for this?

This happened to me yesterday as well, but I did get it to work,

I went in to my Steam library, right clicked on the game and chose 'Delete local content'. After that was done I reinstalled the game and it worked.

Yeah, deleted and reinstalled it a few times, I'm still getting the same problem. Once it even crashed Steam.

If you look in my documents under Universe sandbox/Logs there should be 3 log files.  Could you post those for us?

Yes. Looking at the log files is the next step.

Hmm you logs aren't getting very far in.  Your video card (x600) is a bit old but should still run it as it is a directx 9 card.
I know this is a redundant question but are all of your drivers up to date?

I think it does however ultimately have to with your video in some way as the next step (in my log at least) is this Init3DWindowed Complete

Which yours doesn't seem to reach.  Do you have any other 3D programs installed at all?

I have to add that I am getting the problem again. I will try to troubleshoot tomorrow.

ok, update time.

I am running Vista 64bit Home Premium. I keep getting the same problem. The game plays great for a while, but then on the next launch the game start, the screen is black with white sun and planet orbiting in the center. Nothing else ever happens and you need to use task manager to end the game.

This time around I went to the localuser\appdata\local\universe sandbox folder and deleted all contents

Now the game will launch. If and when it breaks again I will see if I can narrow down which of the four files I deleted needs to be addressed.

Updating my video drivers past a certain point makes my computer inoperable.

Do you have any other 3D programs installed at all?

Well yeah, I play modern PC games

I've tried everything on the list, even downloading the .NET verification thing.

As for what legodragonxp did, no such folder exists in my application data, so there's nothing for me to delete.

I've added some more debug code around where you're getting the crash. That will be in the next update and hopefully that will shed some more light on your issue. I'm sorry this is taking so long.
